DE & J LEVY LLP SPEARHEAD ADVISORY ROLE IN BATTERSEA., 16th June 2010
THE CHANGING FACE OF NINE ELMS
DE & J Levy LLP spearhead advisory role in Battersea.
The area running from Vauxhall to Battersea Park known as the ‘’Nine Elms Opportunity Area’’ is undergoing a complete change that will result shift from the existing warehousing/business accommodation supporting the City and West End to the development of high density exclusive residential and mixed use development anchored by the proposed London American Embassy.
DE & J Levy LLP’s initial involment in the location began with Ballymore Properties Ltd instruction on their substantial landholdings and in assembling and delivering vacant possession of the 5 acre site required for the new US Embassy. Subsequent to that Simon Higgins and partner colleague Jeremy Grundy and the team have been busy acting for HR Owen plc in the search for a new Bentley service centre and working for ING Real Estate on the marketing of Battersea Business Park.
Simon Higgins commented that ‘’The US Embassy deal will certainly be the catalyst for substantial change in Nine Elms. This exciting scheme designed by selected Pennsylvanian architect Kieran Timberlake will hopefully be closely followed by the redevelopment of The New Covent Garden Market which is currently looking for a private development partner, the eventual and long awaited development of Treasury Holdings Battersea Power Station and the recent purchase of the 6.5 acre riverside Tideway’s industrial estate by Berkeley Holding’s, St James Group.. All this activity has certainly increased investor interest in an area which has long been sidelined in favour of sites north of the Thames’’
