David Apthorp

David joined DE&J Levy in 1996 as the Partner in Charge to develop the Project Management and Building Consultancy Department.  He is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 24 years experience gained from working for several major property consultants.

He has extensive experience in delivering every building surveying skill required through the entire property life cycle and has worked for a comprehensive range of commercial clients throughout Europe.  David has market and sector specialism in offices, retail, industrial and residential having managed extensive large scale commercial fit out, relocation and refurbishment projects across these sectors.  He acts for both landlords and tenants in dilapidations and neighbourly matters.  He is extremely proficient in undertaking building surveys whether for due diligence or planned preventative maintenance and reinstatement cost assessments.  He also acts as an expert witness and carries out development monitoring for both banks and investors.

David has commercial focus, specialist knowledge, technical expertise and an adaptable approach which combined with an impressive track record enables him to deliver projects on time and within budget.

When David is not in the office, he can be found on the Solent.  He is a very keen sailor having raced dinghies before progressing to yacht racing and he has successfully helmed a variety of yachts including a J/105 (UK National Champion 2008), J/109 (UK National Champion 2009 and 2011, Irish National Champion 2008, European Champion 2009 and 2011).  He has also competed at the Little Britain Challenge where he won his class in 2009.
